AINS-WORTHY OF MOTM PRIZE
Posted on: Sat 28 Nov 2009
Loan star Gareth Ainsworth helped his new side to a crucial 1-0 victory over Brentford on Tuesday evening and then walked off with the man-of-the-match champagne courtesy of his scintillating display at Adams Park.
The 36-year-old joined the Wanderers last week and made his debut at Millwall at the weekend before making his home bow against the Bees, which caught the eye of supporters and sponsors alike, with match sponsors Allport deeming him worthy of the bottle of bubbly.
However, the winger was modest in his assessment of his role in the Blues' recent revival, and says he has been thoroughly impressed by the quality of Gary Waddock's squad:
"The battle and the heart in this team is different class," he told wwfc.com. "In this league you're going to face tough opposition week in, week out. We've got quality players who will win games for us, but you have to win the fight first."
Ainsworth's next chance to don the light and dark blue quarters will be at Southampton next Tuesday evening (k.o. 7.45pm) - call 01494 441118 to book tickets.
