Gary Waddock was pleased to see his men come away with a point from Saturday's clash with Exeter, despite conceding a late equaliser at St James' Park.
Matt Harrold's penalty handed the Blues the lead just before the break but a 93rd minute Barry Corr header denied Waddock's men their first away victory of the season.
The Blues boss said: "Obviously it would have been nice if we would have won, but we got a result against a good side last week and we've got another result today.
"We're all disappointed that we didn't come away with the three points, but you can never underestimate a point away from home - it's a good point.
"It will take us a while to get all our ideas across to the players but they have given us 100% effort again and that's all the management staff are asking for. We are slowly asking them to play the type of football we want them to play and again we were unfortunate not to get a result.
"What pleased me was the way we dug in. Exeter are a good side and they threw a lot at us second half and we stood up to the challenge until those final few seconds. We're disappointed but on the evidence of our defending today I was pleased with a point."
Scott Shearer pulled off a number of good stops in the second period to deny Matt Taylor, Marcus Stewart and Stuart Fleetwood amongst others and Waddock was quick to note the contribution of his number one keeper.
He said: "The save that he made late on was a fantastic one and then he's blamed himself for not coming for the delivery into the box. He made a couple of good saves and he did well."
Joining Shearer in the starting line-up for the first time in three months was Tommy Doherty after a hamstring injury and the Chairboys chief spoke of his delight at having 'Doc' back available for selection.
He said: "I was pleased with his performance. He's a good footballer, he slots in there and he gets us playing. I was pleased he got the minutes."
One man who didn't make the trip to Devon was Jon-Paul Pittman and Waddock revealed after the match that the striker wasn't available due to a groin injury.
The 47-year-old said: "He's got an injury but hopefully it's not anything serious. We are looking at about a week to 10 days."
