THE BIG MATCH PREVIEW

Posted on: Sat 03 Oct 2009
Wanderers and Leyton Orient go face-to-face at Adams Park on Saturday with both teams after a victory to move them away from the foot of League One.

Both sides go into the clash on the back of defeats in midweek - the Wanderers fell 1-0 to Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday, while Geraint Williams' side were thumped 4-0 by Paul Lambert's Norwich City.

Williams is known for keeping the opposition guessing with his choice of strike partnership but former Wanderer Scott McGleish is sure to be one of the O's manager's forward selections. Other options include former Ipswich striker James Scowcroft, who was signed by Peter Taylor when he was at both Leicester City and Crystal Palace, Ryan Jarvis and ex-Lincoln frontman Andrea Patulea.

Early victories over Bristol Rovers and Colchester United (in the Carling Cup) showed signs of promise but no win in eight games before last Saturday's 1-0 win over Millwall leaves the O's, like the Wanderers, in need of a winning streak to lift them away from the relegation zone.

As for the Blues, Peter Taylor comes up against the club he played 56 times for during a three-year spell in the early 80's. However, Taylor is sure to his feelings aside as he looks to steer the Chairboys to a vital three points.

Ahead of the game, Peter Taylor told wwfc.com: "The players have got to be honest and do all they can to put in a good performance.

"I think we've got that in the changing room and we've got to keep on going. Saturday is a difficult game against Orient but we'll go and try and win the match."

Team News:

Wycombe:
After missing Tuesday's game against Tranmere with a groin injury, Stuart Beavon is rated as 50/50 for the clash at Adams Park. Tommy Doherty and Matt Bloomfield are still ruled out.

Leyton Orient: To follow.

Opposition View:

"I know we have dropped back into the bottom four, but three more points would put us half-way up the table.

"We have proved we can match the big boys. We beat Millwall last weekend and the lads are all raring to go on Saturday, especially Scott McGleish."
