TAYLOR: WE WON'T HIDE

Posted on: Thu 01 Oct 2009

Wanderers manager Peter Taylor insists his players will not hide from their recent struggle to find form and can take heart from certain aspects of Tuesday's 1-0 home defeat to Tranmere Rovers.

The Blues slipped to 23rd position in League One after the midweek loss but Taylor is confident that his side can lift themselves out of trouble if they remain positive, starting with the visit of Leyton Orient to Adams Park on Saturday:

"If we play like that on Saturday then I wouldn't be too disappointed because the players tried to do everything that was asked of them," he said after the 1-0 defeat.

"I told them that I thought the second half was good and the easiest thing to do would be to hide, but nobody hid tonight - they tried their damnedest to get a result and to play football."

Wanderers restricted John Barnes' men to very few goalscoring chances on Tuesday night but were unable to find a way past the Rovers defence at the other end, and Taylor feels his side need to improve their firepower in front of goal if they are to climb the table:

"We didn't have too much luck and it was a frustrating evening. You can only ask your players to go out and play the way you want them to, and I thought they did that, but we didn't create enough chances to win the match.

"I can't hide the fact that there aren't enough goals in the building and we've got to find some from somewhere," he added.
