Lewwis Spence says that he is reaping the rewards of playing first team football at Forest Green Rovers.
The 21-year-old has played every minute since joining the Blue Square Premier side on a one-month loan deal earlier in September.
And the midfielder believes his time at FGR will be beneficial to his long term career aspirations with the Wanderers.
Talking to
wwfc.com, Spence said: "It's so important for me to get some football under my belt because when I came back from my injury and played 20 minutes in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, I realised how far away I was in terms of fitness.
"It's all about improving my fitness and getting more games under my belt. I've played three full matches in quite quick succession and I'm feeling stronger.
"My aim is to play the next three with Forest Green and then get back in and amongst the team at Wycombe. I came here to play games and be a regular in the first team."
The midfielder was offered the chance to stay with the Blues but the former Crystal Palace man felt that a loan move would give him a "competitive edge" as he looks to return to full fitness following a foot injury.
He said: "The offer was put on the table and it was left up to me. I felt that going out on loan would benefit me and that playing in the Blue Square Premier would offer me more of a competitive edge than playing in the reserves.
"We've picked up three points in the three games I've played in and I'm enjoying it. We're doing well as a team but we can make improvements."
