Peter Taylor has praised his Wanderers side for the way they responded in Saturday's derby defeat to MK Dons.
Paul Ince's side dominated the opening 45 at Adams Park and took the lead through Mathias Doumbe on the stroke of half-time, but an invigorated Wanderers side emerged from the dressing room for the second half and made a real contest of the Bucks derby.
The Blues boss said: "I enjoyed the second half. I thought we had a bit more about us, we looked more exciting going forward and we just had a go. We did some very good things and although MK enjoyed quite a lot of possession we created as many chances as they did in the second half.
"We could have scored as well. With a little bit of luck, whether it would have come for either Jon-Paul Pittman or Stuart Green, we could have got a draw."
Taylor's troops were booed off at half-time by some sections of the Adams Park faithful and the Chairboys chief fully understands the fans' frustration at his side's first half performance.
He said: "We looked too nervous and the players were doing millions of things that we didn't want them to do. I suppose it is a toss of a coin at how the players will perform but I was very surprised with the nervous start.
"The first half was totally unacceptable. Certain players, and I told them at half-time, need to have a real look at themselves because we've got to do better.
"The crowd reaction was right at half-time. I would have booed them myself and I did more than that in the dressing room at the break.
"It was a test for the players because of how they would respond to being booed. I said to the players that they needed to come in at the final whistle happy with their performances and I think they were. However, we mustn't fall into the trap of performing when we fall behind."
The introductions of Matty Phillips, Kevin Betsy and Jon-Paul Pittman at the interval breathed new life into the Wanderers side but it was a member of Taylor's starting XI who grabbed the plaudits from the gaffer as the Blues surged forward looking for an equaliser.
He said: "I thought Chris Zebroski was fantastic second half. He won most headers, he didn't stop closing down and he didn't stop making forward runs. Those types of performances are just what we need at the moment."
