TAYLOR: 'WE MUST BE REALISTIC"
Wanderers boss Peter Taylor has moved to clarify comments made after Saturday's defeat to Brighton, insisting that the Chairboys aren't resigned to a relegation fight.
The Blues have faced a tough opening to their League One campaign and with competition in the division arguably stronger than ever before, the 56-year-old has also called for fans to be realistic over the coming months.
Taylor said: "I know there has been some talk regarding my comments that appeared in the local media after the Brighton game, but the point I was trying to get across was that people need to realise what a tough division we're in.
Our expectations have to be different to what they were last year when we were in a completely different league. I am by no means accepting the fact that we are in a relegation battle - but I think fans need to acknowledge that finishing fifth from bottom wouldn't be a disaster. It's a tough division and we have to be realistic.
I know the lads have the potential to finish higher up the league but football isn't always that simple, so let's make sure we keep our feet on the ground."
