Peter Taylor felt his side deserved a point from Saturday's clash with Brighton & Hove Albion and was disappointed to leave with nothing after Nicky Forster's strike settled a largely even affair in the home side's favour.

Both teams struggled to find their rhythm on the south coast and goalscoring chances were few and far between, but Forster's strike sealed the points and forced Taylor to rue his side's lack of potency in attack:

"I'm disappointed that we didn't get anything because I didn't fancy us to concede today," he told the press after the game. "I thought we did enough to get a point and I thought our defence played well to restrict Brighton, but I'm disappointed that we didn't play enough going forward.

"I thought it was going to finish 0-0 and we might have just gone to sleep for the goal, but the time we conceded was when we had started showing more urgency and belief that we could get some chances," he added.

Having scored six goals in their previous three matches, Wycombe would have been confident about finding the net against a Brighton side without a win all season, but they found it hard to create chances in and around the Seagulls' penalty area:

Matt Harrold
Short of service: Matt Harrold had a difficult day

"I didn't think we had enough players in the middle of the park to go and get the ball for us and some of the service to Matt Harrold was disappointing ; for the first 55 minutes or so he didn't get much service at all.

"Some of Jon-Paul Pittman's best performances have been coming off the bench for us and we wanted to play 4-3-3 today so I thought he'd be fresh coming off the bench, particularly as he played 90 minutes on Tuesday. To be fair to him, the minute he came on he did look quite sharp," said Taylor.

"We've got to keep improving, but we're not a million miles away."

The defeat leaves Wycombe inside the bottom four after a difficult introduction to life in League One, but Taylor says he and his team will not let their heads drop and will continue to strive to improve:

"We would all love to be playing superbly well but we've only played well in patches. The lads have got to start believing that we can play well - at times we do get it right but we need to work on it.

"At the start of the season Brighton were one of the favourites and if you put that with the start that we've had, it's been very difficult. Anyway, the paper says we've got four points from six matches which isn't good enough - we've got to keep improving, but we're not a million miles away."
