BETSY: 'WYCOMBE ARE MY NUMBER ONE'

Posted on: Thu 03 Sep 2009

Returning Chairboy Kevin Betsy has labelled Wycombe his "number one club", after dramatically signing for the Blues in the last seconds of the transfer window.

The dazzling winger has signed a four-month loan deal at Adams Park, joining the side that he left as part of a £150,000 deal to Bristol City back in 2006.

"I'm delighted to be back in familiar surroundings with people that I'm very fond of, and hopefully I can bring some quality to the squad," he told wwfc.com.

"The fans here were top draw, I have made no secret that this is my number one club; I'm a local lad and these supporters were tremendous to me in every game that I played.

"This club put my career back on track and as a 29 year old moving for that sort of money (to Bristol), the club that gave you the opportunity and platform are always going to leave with you fond memories - hopefully I can repay the fans, manager and chairman's faith in bringing me back."

Betsy wowed Chairboys fans in his previous stint with the Wanderers, scoring 13 times and bagging numerous assists under the tutelage of John Gorman and, latterly, Paul Lambert.

After moving to Ashton Gate he was able to sample promotion from League One as an ever present in the Robins side that catapulted their way to the Championship.

"I've worked with some tremendous managers since I've left and managed to get promoted out this league with Bristol City and Gary Johnson," said Betsy.

"I was fortunate that Wycombe let me go at the time, I was out of contract in the summer but City made a good offer that the club couldn't refuse; it was good for both parties at the time."

The 31-year-old has found first team football hard to come by in the last few weeks, but insists that his appetite for the game is bigger than ever as he strives for a spectacular return to his former club.

"I haven't had a fantastic pre-season in terms of matches, but hopefully once games come thick and fast I'll find my feet and be back playing like I know I can."

Kevin could well travel with the Wanderers as they take on Brighton and Hove Albion at the Withdean Stadium this Saturday.
