Blues boss Peter Taylor believes the capture of Joe Cobb will provide good competition for the Wanderers' backline.

Cobb, 18, became Taylor's second signing of the summer on Tuesday when he put pen to paper on a one-year deal, following his release from Championship side Leicester City.

The full-back linked up with his new team mates for the first time on Wednesday, as the squad returned for pre-season training, and Taylor wants the club's new signing to battle with Craig Woodman for the left-back slot.

He exclusively told wwfc.com: "Joe is full of promise and I want him to push our player of the year last season Craig Woodman all the way.

"Potentially, he is an outstanding attacking full-back."
