A MEMORABLE GIFT

Staff at Adams Park got a pleasant surprise this week, as club secretary Keith Allen received a priceless piece of Wanderers memorabilia from a generous Carlisle United fan.

The item in question was a rare programme from the Chairboys first ever game in the Football League, played at Brunton Park on Saturday 14th August 1993.

The pages have been signed by players from both sides, including the likes of Steve Guppy, Jason Cousins and Keith Ryan.

The programme was sent on by Cumbrians supporter Steve Doyle, who had won the matchday magazine years previously in a radio station giveaway.

Classic Wycombe Programme
Priceless: The classic Wanderers programme was signed on the day by both teams

Martin O'Neill's side picked up a point with a 2-2 draw in the fixture, thanks to Chris Curran's own goal and a Steve Guppy strike - as the future England international became the first Blues player to score in the Football League.

"We would like to extend our thanks to Steve for sending on this piece, it really is a wonderful piece of memorabilia," Keith Allen told wwfc.com.

"As far as I'm aware there aren't any other programmes from that game signed in this manner, so it's great for the club to have this in their possession. I shall ensure it is suitably displayed amongst our other prized possessions."
