Wanderers managing director Steve Hayes received support for his vision of the club's future at a special meeting of shareholders held at Adams Park last night.

The M.D. called the meeting to explain to shareholders why he wants to take control of the club. He has pledged to write off £3m worth of debt and continue to fund the club if he is allowed to become its majority shareholder. A vote will be taken on his proposal on July 6th.

He spent almost two hours answering questions in a packed Vere Suite last night and impressed the audience with his willingness to deal with all their concerns in an honest, forthright manner.

Steve was interrogated about the club's mounting debts during his term as managing director and his plans to relocate Wanderers to a new stadium that would be shared with London Wasps Rugby Club.

One supporter got to his feet and made an impassioned plea for his fellow shareholders to approve Steve's proposal. He said the club would have an exciting future if the vote was yes, but feared for their existence if the plan is thrown out. His words were greeted with enthusiastic applause from almost everyone in the room.

Club chairman Ivor Beeks made an emotional appeal for shareholders to approve Steve's proposal emphasising that it is the only one on the table. In answer to a question from the floor, Mr.Beeks confirmed that if shareholders vote against the proposal the club would almost certainly go into administration.
