MCCRACKEN: 'I WANT A NEW CHALLENGE'
By Ross Jeavons
Former Wanderers captain David McCracken has spoken out after signing a two-year deal with MK Dons, announcing that his quest for a new challenge prompted the move to Stadium:MK.
The charismatic Scotsman, who was an integral part of the Blues' record breaking defence last season, has also spoken fondly about his time at Adams Park in an exclusive interview with wwfc.com.
"Obviously I really enjoyed my time at Wycombe, I came down here in need of a fresh start and a new challenge and that's what I got," McCracken revealed.
"It was a real honour to be captain and to get promotion last year was superb, I'd never experienced it before and I won't forget it."
The 27-year-old Glaswegian has now completed a medical with Roberto Di Matteo's side, joining the club that narrowly lost out in last season's League One play-off semi-final.
"I've moved on for a new challenge, it's a new direction for me and I'm looking forward to getting started and meeting all the new lads," he continued.
"This wasn't about money for me, I really appreciate the offer that Wycombe put down on the table - it was a good one. However I wanted a new challenge and that's why I've decided to move on."
'Cracks' was originally signed by fellow Scotsman Paul Lambert, but retained his place in the side as a new managerial regime came to fruition in time for the 2008/09 campaign.
"I've really enjoyed my time here, firstly with Paul Lambert and of course more recently with Peter Taylor. He (Taylor) is great to work with and I hope that some day I will play for him again.
"I'd also like to express my thanks to Steve Hayes and all the backroom staff at the club. Wycombe Wanderers are going in the right direction, promotion is exactly what they needed and I think the club can kick on from there. Next season I hope to see them up there in the league."
The defender's last piece of praise was especially reserved for the fans, who he believes played a crucial role in helping him to settle down in Buckinghamshire.
"The Wanderers fans have been great to me. They made me feel at home from the moment I got here and I would like to thank them for all their support over the last couple of years, hopefully they have plenty to cheer about in years to come."
