Wycombe Wanderers FC is delighted to announce a special partnership with one of the fastest developing universities in the country, Bucks New University, based in the club's hometown of High Wycombe.
Bucks New University will become Wycombe Wanderers' main club partner, making it the only university in the country to appear on the front of the first team shirts of a professional football team.
The new partnership was officially launched at Adams Park today, Tuesday 16 June, and will see sport and education coming together for the benefit of the local community.
The two organisations have worked together for a number of years and the new affiliation will extend the relationship and strengthen ties between the partners.
Bucks New University's Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive, Prof Ruth Farwell, commented: "We are delighted to embark upon this extended partnership with our local team, Wycombe Wanderers Football Club. This association reinforces Bucks New University's ambition to be a University renowned within the region for our support of sport - not only through academic studies, individual participation and achievement, but also through engagement with our community and our partners.
"Wycombe Wanderers gained promotion last season and Bucks has also achieved a number of accolades recently, including recording the highest percentage increase in applications at a UK university for its full-time undergraduate honours degree courses. We are united in our success and we are both very much on the way up! We hope that our partnership will encourage more people to become involved in football locally, and that it will help to generate a sense of pride in High Wycombe, which is now both a university town, and the home of a successful football club."
Wanderers' Managing Director, Steve Hayes, said: "It's fantastic news that an organisation of the calibre of Bucks New University has become our main shirt partner. We know each other very well and both parties are moving in the right direction. The aim is to grow together and in all our partnerships it's a case of mutual benefit and how each can assist in the other's development.
"We have been delighted to work with Dreams over the last couple of years and thank them for their continued support. Now we look to move forward again with Bucks New Uni, and we are proud to so."
