INTRODUCING...MILLWALL

Posted on: Tue 09 Jun 2009
By Ben Campbell

Fewer than 10 miles from Leyton Orient sees wwfc.com arrive at The New Den, the next stop in our whirlwind 'introducing' series to the clubs the Blues will face next season in League One.

Millwall Millwall

Many didn't give Millwall a chance of reaching Wembley in May when they were drawn against Leeds United in the semi-final, but an impressive 2-1 aggregate victory saw the Lions claim a spot in the play-off final.

And Jackett's men were only 20 minutes away from securing Championship football for the forthcoming campaign, before strikes from Sam Sparrow and Martyn Woolford completed a remarkable turnaround for Scunthorpe.

A double from top scorer Gary Alexander had given the London club a 2-1 lead but Woolford's late strike condemned Kenny Jackett's men to another season in League One.

Expectations levels will inevitably rise for the new season following the 5th placed finish in 2008/09 and Jackett has wasted no time in rebuilding his squad ahead of 8th August.

Stevenage striker Steve Morison has joined the ranks at The New Den for a fee believed to be in the region of 125k and 10 players have left the club to make way for more arrivals in the coming months.

Key men Neil Harris, Scott Barron, Andy Frampton and Gary Alexander have all agreed new deals and if that can be combined with a couple of new quality additions, expect Milwall to once again be challenging at the right end of the table.
