Relegated Championship side the Addicks are next up in our League One preview, a team that bring back plenty of memories for Blues fans...

Charlton Athletic Charlton Athletic

Just a couple of years ago Charlton were a top flight side, taking on the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool as they enjoyed a seven year spell in the Premier League.

However the departure of Alan Curbishley sent the Londoners on a downward spiral, including a famous League Cup defeat to the Chairboys and culminating in their relegation to the Championship in 2007.

After an 11th placed finish in their return to the second tier the Addicks were amongst the favourites to challenge for promotion in 2008/09, but a disastrous campaign would see them battling at the wrong end of the table.

Manager Alan Pardew departed in November after eight successive games without a win and was succeeded by former Colchester boss Phil Parkinson.

Form did not improve and the London side saw their relegation confirmed by a 2-2 draw with Blackpool, with three games still remaining in the season.

They finished the campaign bottom of the league, 12 points adrift of safety.
