WYCOMBE WANDERERS ARE PROMOTED
Posted on: Sat 02 May 2009
Wycombe Wanderers have been promoted to League One after an afternoon of high high drama at Adams Park.
The Blues lost 2-1 at home to Notts County courtesy of a late winner from John Thompson, and with Exeter winning 1-0 at Rotherham, Wycombe were relying on Bury not beating Accrington by a margin of two goals or more.
Bury scored with a penalty in stoppage time to make the scores 1-0 and the whole of Adams Park was on tenterhooks waiting for the full-time result from Gigg Lane.
After several agonising minutes of injury time, the full-time score was announced, meaning that Wycombe Wanderers have been promoted on goal difference - in fact, a difference of one.
It has been a breathless day here at Adams Park and we will endeavour to bring you as much reaction as possible over the next few hours.
