GAFFER: WE'RE GOING FOR THE WIN

Posted on: Tue 28 Apr 2009

By Alan Parry

Blues boss Peter Taylor says he'll be going all out for victory in the final game of the season against Notts County on Saturday even though a draw will be enough to clinch promotion.

'There's no way we'll be playing for a point' he told wwfc.com today 'that would be far too dangerous. I want the players to be brave, go looking for the ball and try to win. I wouldn't approach the game in any other way.'

Wanderers have shared the points in 18 league games this season - no team in League Two has drawn more - and one more draw on Saturday would guarantee automatic promotion for the first time since entering the Football League 16 years ago.

'We have to be sensible' said the Blues boss 'but I want the players to really go for it right from the kick-off. The fact that we only need one point won't change our approach. We try to win every game and this is no different.'

The 'gaffer' added: 'There's going to be a big crowd at Adams Park on Saturday and if the fans get behind us like they've done in recent games we can start on the front foot and take the fight to Notts County. Obviously, if we're drawing with only 15 minutes to go then we might tell the players to be more cautious and not leave any gaps, but we'll certainly be starting at full throttle.'

Keep it wwfc.com for all the news from Adams Park as we build up to Saturday's epic clash. Coming up: extra seats and special prices for Blues fans. Details later today.
