TAYLOR: 'THE FANS WERE TERRIFIC'

By Ross Jeavons

Blues boss Peter Taylor moved quickly to praise the Wanderers travelling fans on Tuesday night, after the Chairboys barmy army turned out in force to roar their boys on to a 1-0 victory over Luton Town.

Over 1300 fans gave their backing to the boys in Blue throughout the 90 minutes, as John Akinde's second half strike shot Wycombe up to second place in League Two.

"It was a cracking atmosphere, we knew our support was going to be here and it should have been a cracking night to play football, so I'm a little bit surprised that a few of our players looked a little afraid," said Taylor.

"They (the Wycombe fans) were terrific, we were expecting that - it was nice turning up at the ground and seeing lots of Wycombe shirts, I was very pleased. I'm delighted for them, it would have been a nice journey home. "

The win means that should results go their way, the Wanderers could seal promotion against Port Vale on Saturday afternoon.

Tickets for that fixture are available from Adams Park, book now by calling 01494 441118.
