Wanderers boss Peter Taylor told wwfc.com that his side's last-gasp winner at Darlington on Tuesday evening was the perfect reward for the travelling support who had made a 500-mile round trip to see the Blues move up to second place in League Two.
Chris Zebroski's stoppage-time header sparked delirious scenes amongst the 'barmy army' after Jason Kennedy had cancelled out John Akinde's opener at the Darlington Arena, and Taylor was thrilled to send them back down the M1 with all three points:
"For me, it's amazing because the journey from Wycombe is a very long one and they've got to go to work in the morning, but they were brilliant for the whole game and hopefully they will enjoy the journey home.
"I think they would have seen total commitment from the players tonight and if I'm a supporter, that's the main thing I want to see. It's not always going to go your way but as long as the boys are doing everything they can to get a result, that's what we all want," he added.
The victory ends a run of six games without a win for the Wanderers but despite the late timing of the winning goal, Taylor felt his side deserved the victory after an excellent performance, particularly in the second half of the game:
"It's a massive relief for us to get the win. I'm delighted for the players because they worked extremely hard and I was really pleased with the performance.
"I thought Darlington were the better in the first 15 minutes but then we had a good half an hour, and I don't think the players could have covered any more ground than they did tonight. There were a few things that were wrong but there were a lot of plus points from the game."
Taylor's substitutions on the hour-mark appeared to give the Blues an extra impetus with Matt Harrold, Matt Phillips and John Mousinho all making an excellent contribution, and the Blues boss admitted that he was happy to adopt an attacking mindset in search of all three points:
"We had to bring off John Akinde because he was feeling his hamstring a little bit and we didn't want to take any chances after he just had been cautioned. We were always trying to win the game - a draw would have been fine but we knew a win would have been fantastic and we carried on trying to create chances.
"John's not fully match fit yet but he's scored four goals for us in five matches so we're very pleased with that return."
The Wanderers can now go into Saturday's massive clash with fellow promotion hopefuls Gillingham on Saturday with a swing in their step after the last-gasp winner at the Darlington Arena, and Taylor feels his side will be boosted even further by the return of inspirational midfielder Tommy Doherty after a four-match suspension:
"For us to get three points, go second in the table and have Tommy Doherty back for the next game is a massive boost for us. But we know you can be boosted in football and then all of a sudden get knocked back down because you don't perform in your next game.
"The next match is a very difficult one but at the same time it's a very good one for us. Gillingham are doing exceptionally well but we will get a lot of positives and a huge feel-good factor out of tonight."
