'WE'RE BACK TO GETTING SOMETHING'

Wanderers chief Peter Taylor was hoping that Gary Holt's wonder strike would have given the Blues the perfect platform to go on and collect all three points against Shrewsbury Town at Adams Park on Saturday.

The midfielder's 25-yard curling effort beat Luke Daniels in the Shrews' goal midway through the first half to make it 1-0 to the Blues but a Ben Davies header on 75 minutes cancelled out the skipper's strike to claim a point for the side currently occupying the final play-off spot in League Two.

Taylor said: "I've never seen Holt (Gary) do that before! I was very pleased with that and I was hoping that we could then go on and get a second but it wasn't to be.

"Overall though I would have taken a draw. Before Saturday's game I would have taken four points from the next two games, which makes Tuesday night against Barnet a big one.

"I thought Shrewsbury played some good stuff at times, but I thought we also played some nice stuff of our own.

"We aren't playing with the belief and confidence I would like but it happens at this stage of the season, players play with nerves and don't perform the way we as managers know they can."

And although Taylor admitted that a point was a fair result at Adams Park, he wasn't happy with the build up to Ben Davies' equaliser.

He said: "They got an easy cross in from the throw-in and I will be looking at that very closely. It's an easy cross, which I felt that any team have to work a bit harder to stop. OK it was a good ball in and a good header but defensively it was very poor for us."

Matt Bloomfield and John Mousinho returned to the midfield alongside Holt and Lee Sawyer with Taylor explaining his decision to bring the duo back in being down to the work rate the pair offer the Wanderers side.

He said: "I was disappointed with the running last week against Rochdale and one thing from John Mousinho and Matty (Bloomfield) is that they certainly cover the yards and in that respect I think it was a better performance than last Saturday.

"Not to lose to the top teams isn't bad. It does keep that distance and we've got back to getting something and the players will be pleased."
