TAYLOR: 'IT WAS TOUGH ON YOUNGY'
By Ross Jeavons
Blues boss Peter Taylor has spoken out on his decision to bring Czech keeper Marek Stech into his starting line up, ahead of Aussie stopper Jamie Young.
The 19-year-old signed a loan deal with the Wanderers in time to take his place between the sticks at Griffin Park last Saturday, forcing in-form Young to sit on the bench.
"I can certainly understand that Jamie's not going to be happy with the decision because he played ever so well, he played really well and deserved to keep his place," Taylor exclusively told wwfc.com.
"In the end we got an injury to Scott Shearer and I think it was important we brought in the best possible keeper we could to cover.
"I did say to Jamie at the beginning of the season that we wouldn't bring anyone in if Scott got injured, but with ten games to go I don't think we had a choice.- "
The decision was always going to be hard on Young, who told local media it was the 'lowest point in his career'.

Weight of the World: Taylor has urged fans to back new keeper Marek Stech |
However Taylor has urged fans to give their full backing to Stech, as the Blues prepare for a massive encounter with 4th place Rochdale at Adams Park.
"You are going to be unpopular if you make a decision like that against a popular player, but that's what a manager has to do," he said.
"Looking at some of the press reports frustrates me, because negative reporting the day before a game is just putting a young keeper under pressure."
The ex-England chief has moved to ease the burden from the Czech youth international, denying that Saturday's clash has a 'must win' feel to it.
"If we could get three points that would be lovely but if not there are still nine games to get the results," he said.
