BLUES HIT INJURY TROUBLE

The Wanderers will go into Saturday's game with Brentford without striker Stuart Beavon, who has been ruled out for a fortnight with a groin injury, wwfc.com can reveal.

The forward, who signed on loan from Weymouth at the end of February, has been forced to undergo a minor operation on a groin problem that kept him out of action for the defeat at Lincoln City.

He could also be joined on the sidelines by captain David McCracken, who is a doubt thanks to an injury aggravated in the narrow loss at Sincil Bank.

Manager Peter Taylor has also admitted that inspirational midfielder Tommy Doherty was forced to sit out training on Thursday afternoon as a precaution, but it is hoped that the Northern Ireland international will recover in time for the trip to Griffin Park.

However Taylor will be boosted with the news that striker John Akinde will go straight into the squad after joining from Bristol City on Wednesday evening.

Ex-Fulham full back TJ Moncur shook off a knee problem to make a substitute appearance against the Imps, whilst Chris Casement has also extended his loan for another month to add to the Wanderers defensive options.

Keep it wwfc.com over the next 24 hours for the complete low down ahead of the crunch clash with the Bees.
