THE RETURN OF 'JESUS'

'Jesus' returns to Adams Park on Saturday - and he's hoping his 'disciples' will turn out in force to welcome him back.

Dave Carroll, one of the most popular players in Wycombe's history, is one of a cavalcade of former stars who will be presented to the crowd before kick-off in the Blues' crucial League Two promotion clash with Chesterfield (k.o.3pm).

Other legends from the Martin O'Neill era set to attend include Keith Ryan, Steve Brown, Jason Cousins, Terry Evans, Matt Crossley, Simon Stapleton and golden oldies Cyrille Regis and Simon Garner.

The former stars are founder members of the newly formed Wanderers' Ex-Players Association, the brainchild of managing director Steve Hayes.

Lifelong Blues fans Alan Hutchinson and John D.Taylor set about the mammoth task of contacting every player who's appeared in the famous blue quarters over the past 60 years - and they've been overwhelmed by the response.

Said Mr.Taylor: 'We've tried to trace over 600 players and once word spread we were innundated with names. More than 100 ex-players will be at Adams Park on Saturday for the association's official launch.'

All those who played more than 300 games for the Blues will be introduced on the pitch ahead of the Chesterfield match and the rest will appear on stage in the Vere Suite after the game.

Mr.Hutchinson told wwfc.com: 'Many of them have never been back to the club since hanging up their boots, but we can now provide the missing link and get them involved again. In turn, that could encourage back some older supporters who might not have watched the team since the Loakes Park days.'

To see Wycombe's stars - old and new - book your ticket by calling the Adams Park Ticket Office on 01494 441118.

Coming later on wwfc.com: The full list of former players that will be attending Adams Park this Saturday.
