SPENCE: "I NEED TO MAKE AN IMPACT"

Midfielder Lewwis Spence has revealed he joined the club to play first team football and he will do all he can to regain his place in the Blues starting line-up.

Wanderers boss Peter Taylor has used the 21-year-old as a substitute in recent weeks but the former Crystal Palace man has his eyes set on a return to the first XI as soon as possible.

Taylor takes his side to Morecambe on Saturday and Lewwis hopes his impressive second half performance in the draw with Rotherham on Monday has forced his way into the manager's thoughts for the game at Christie Park.

Talking exclusively to wwfc.com, Spence said: "My aim is to get back in the starting line-up. Even if I'm not starting games I need to make an impact when I come off the bench and hopefully force my way back into the team that way."

Lewwis knows it isn't going to be easy though as he's up against an array of quality players all vying for those midfield positions.

"We have a lot of good players in that position and there's a lot of competition in our midfield. I've just got to keep working hard and try and get back in."

The top of League Two tightened up after the midweek fixtures but the left-footed midfielder has assured fans that he and his team mates are ready for the final 15 games of the season as they try and achieve promotion to League One.

He said: "As a team we must pick up as many important results as we can between now and the end of the season."

Spence opened his account when the Blues drew 1-1 with Saturday's opponents at Adams Park on the first day of the season in August and although admitting he would like to add to his own personal tally it's more important that the team start to find the net more often.

He said: "As a team we need more goals. Obviously I'm always trying to add my own tally and in turn contribute towards the team's total."
