Wanderers cruised into the next round of the Berks & Bucks Cup on Monday evening after a 4-1 win over Didcot Town.
A double from Calum Botham and strikes from Dan Fitchett and Matt Richards handed the Blues a comfortable win at Loop Meadow and they will now face Marlow in the semi-final.
The game started at a high tempo with the physical presence of the home side getting the better of a Wanderers side, whose oldest player was skipper Robbie Rice, aged 20.
However, the quality of the Blues play started to shine through and a smart passing move brought about the opening goal. Neat work between Scott Shulton and Jordan Lumsden in the midfield set Calum Botham on goal and the left-footed striker volleyed under the Didcot keeper to make it 1-0 midway through the first half.
Botham's strike partner Dan Ficthett made it 2-0 the visitors in the early stages of the second 45 after he rounded the Didcot stopper, twice, before slotting the ball home.
Former Derby man Matt Richards then added to the Blues' lead on 65 minutes, when after good work in the midfield, he found some space, shifted the ball onto his left foot and bend a beauty into the top corner from 20 yards.
The home side came back strong after going further behind and during their five minute spell of pressure around the 70-minute mark they got themselves a lifeline, a 25-yard drive beat Reading in the Wanderers goal. Now you would assume a tight finish would commence?
That's not the case with these spirited youngsters though, who found a fourth goal with 10 minutes left on the clock to well and truly put the game to bed. Substitute Tom O'Regan provided the defence splitting pass and Calum Botham did the rest after nipping round the keeper.
Wanderers team: Reading, Rice (c), Read, Turley, Ellams, Shulton, Richards, Lumsden, Pearce, Botham, Fitchett.
Subs: Ingram, O'Regan (60 on for Shulton), Lewis (75 on for Lumsden), Belcher (75 on for Pearce), McClure.
