The former Leeds and Newcastle midfielder was initially called into the U21s but after impressing in Aston Villa's win over Blackburn at the weekend he was drafted into the Senior squad and he could be in line for his debut against Spain on Wednesday evening in Seville.
Taylor told
wwfc.com: "I'm chuffed for him, James is a cracking lad and one of the most serious young professionals I have ever met.
"He only wants to get better and he thoroughly deserves his call up. There are one or two things that he can improve on, but knowing James Milner like I do, he will improve."
After earning his call up James Milner told
TheFa.com: "Hopefully I'll get on the pitch at some point, but it's great to be here and I have to prove that I should be here."
