Wycombe Wanderers' managing director Mr.Steve Hayes has assured fans that there will be 'no conflict of interest' between his role at the club and his new position as owner of rugby giants Wasps.

It was announced earlier this week that Mr.Hayes has become the majority shareholder of Wasps after 18 months as a non-executive director of the European rugby champions.

He told last night's A.G.M. of W.W.F.C. plc at Adams Park: 'Taking over at Wasps strengthens my position with Wanderers. There are lots of ways in which the two clubs can benefit each other. I see no conflict whatsoever.'

Mr.Hayes went on: 'We have the best relationship of any football club that shares their ground with a rugby club and my increased involvement with Wasps can only make things better. We can use Wasps to help us get to where we want to be. I enjoy rugby but first and foremost I'm a football man and have been all my life.'

Of the proposal to build a new stadium to be shared by both clubs, Mr.Hayes commented: 'My new position at Wasps will be a direct benefit to our plans. The local council is very pleased by this development.'

Mr.Hayes answered a question about short term plans to increase the capacity at Adams Park, telling shareholders: 'We can't contemplate putting in a new stand until we begin to solve the problems of parking and access. We hope to make an announcement regarding this in the new year, but it will only be a temporary measure and it is still a long way off. There will be no cost to the football club.'

Blues' chairman Mr.Ivor Beeks drew applause from the shareholders when he told the meeting: 'Steve's involvement with Wasps is good news for the football club. I want to thank him for the way he has conducted himself on this issue. Let's cut out the negativity - we're enjoying a great season on the field, we've got a wonderful manager and I believe we're going places.'

The A.G.M. adopted the report of the directors and the audited accounts for the year ended 30th June, 2008. Mr.Brian Kane was re-elected as a director and Mr.Andrew Pelley was elected as a non-executive director.

It was announced that a shareholders' forum will be held at Adams Park on Thursday, February12th, 2009. Manager Peter Taylor will be among the speakers.
