"IT'S BEEN A BRILLIANT START"

Wanderers boss Peter Taylor has hailed the Blues' tremendous start to the season after their 4-2 win over Port Vale at Adams Park.

"It's been a brilliant start," he said. "To have 34 points from the opening 16 matches is superb."

And although Taylor was happy to credit the players after he saw his side rise to the top of League Two once again, he admitted the performance could have been better.

He said: "I'm delighted with the win, however, I didn't really like us today. I thought they (Port Vale) played better than us but we were dangerous when we attacked.

"It wasn't a great performance from us today and credit to Port Vale, they played well. I am delighted to score four goals but we would like to create more chances."

Matt Harrold and Chris Zebroski both took their tallies to six goals for the season after they grabbed braces in the win and the former England boss was full of praise for the pair.

He said: "I'm pleased for Zeb, at times he's awkward and frustrating but his work rate is awesome. He's now got 6 goals and I'm so happy with him, he is probably one of the first on the team sheet.

"Matty Harrold is looking confident, I think the game against AFC Wimbledon did him the world of good and although he didn't score last week he was a real handful.

"I'm really pleased with him and he looks like he's got some goals in him. We want to improve his goal record."

The Blues matched their best goal tally for the season with four goals in a game, the other being the away FA Cup tie at AFC Wimbledon, although they conceded two for the first time in League Two - something that disappointed the gaffer.

Taylor said: "I spoke at half-time about not tackling impatiently around the box and I'm not sure that it was a penalty.

"However, their second goal was different, Craig Woodman made a bad decision passing the ball in a bad area; they won it and they went on to score. And their second made it nervous until we scored the fourth."
