Wanderers boss Peter Taylor has described the Blues' performance in the 4-1 win over AFC Wimbledon as "professional".

He told wwfc.com: "I warned the players beforehand that we needed to play the correct way with the right attitude. We did that and we were solid, professional and we scored some good goals."

"They (AFC Wimbledon) are a good side and we knew if we weren't switched on we could be undone, we had to defend right and I thought we were solid and restricted them to a few chances."

Peter Taylor has already guided the Blues one step further in the competition than last year after Wycombe were beaten 2-1 by Swindon Town at Adams Park and in recent light of the club's financial report the former England boss was pleased that the football department of the club were able to contribute funds after receiving money from Setanta and The FA following their progress to round two.

He said: "I'm delighted for the board, the MD (Steve Hayes) and the Chairman (Ivor Beeks), it's a reward for them."

But the tributes from the gaffer didn't stop there as he lavished praise on the match winner Matt Harrold, after the striker scored a superb hat-trick in the win at Kingsmeadow.

Taylor said: "I'm very pleased for him. You want him to play confidently and he certainly did that, his finishing was outstanding. That hat-trick will do him a world of good."

Sandwiched between Harrold's second and third goal was Matty Phillips' first ever career goal and Taylor was pleased to see his 17-year-old wingers shot hit the back of net.

He said: "I'm delighted for him, he took his goal really well. He's a great talent but also a very level-headed lad who won't get carried away."

Before the game between the Wombles and the Wanderers had even kicked off the talk amongst many was that whoever progressed would bypass Eastwood Town and make it into the third round, but a man of Peter Taylor's experience knows that football just doesn't work like that.

He said: "It's another attitude game and hopefully we can get a similar result. The aim is to progress past Eastwood and get a good third round tie."

Still to come on wwfc.com, reaction from Matty Phillips and Matt Bloomfield.
