Wanderers star Mike Williamson will be looking to cap a great week for himself on Monday evening by helping the club seal a place in the second round of the FA Cup - but the centre-back knows that the Blues could be in for a difficult 90 minutes against a strong AFC WImbledon side.

'Willo' scooped the League Two PFA fans' player of the month award on Tuesday and celebrated his 25th birthday on Saturday ahead of taking part in the famous competition two days later, and he feels Wycombe must be at their best in order to avoid an upset against the Blue Square South outfit:

"We have to make sure we are up for it too and get the result that we want."

"We know it is going to be a tough tie despite the fact that there are two divisions difference between the two teams," he told the PFA website. "That is what the gaffer has been trying to drill into us all week as he has had them watched and he has said that they are flying high in their division and are an extremely good footballing side.

"They will really be up for it as well as it is live on television so we have to make sure we are up for it too and get the result that we want."

The PFA award came as a deserved recognition for the tall defender following an incredible start to the season as part of a team which has conceded just six times in fourteen matches and remained unbeaten in the league, but the modest 'Willo' was still surprised to receive the prize:

"I am absolutely delighted and it is a real surprise as I didn't expect it. It is nice to know that the supporters appreciate what you are doing and I am very pleased to be nominated for the award this month.

"It has been a great season both personally and for the team and confidence is extremely high. We want to keep that unbeaten record going as long as we can but one thing we would like to do is to start turning a lot of those draws into wins. We are still not picking up three points in games as often as we would like," he added.

Williamson was brought to Adams Park by current Portsmouth boss Tony Adams in 2003 and has now played under four different managers at the club, and the former Southampton youngster reckons Peter Taylor's methods could be key to guiding the Blues into League One this season:

"The gaffer is a hands on coach and a good guy. He is extremely meticulous on the training ground and we do a lot of work on set-pieces, which has paid off this season. He is also a good motivator of players and has a good backroom team behind with the likes of Junior Lewis, so it is all working well at present.

"The expectation is for promotion. We would like to go up automatically but I don't think anyone would mind if it was through the play-offs as long as we were playing in League One next season. It would have to be classed as a disappointment if we didn't go up."
