Wycombe Wanderers have been drawn away to AFC Wimbledon in the first round of this season's FA Cup, wwfc.com can reveal.

The romance of the FA Cup is well and truly alive as the 2001 semi-finalists travel to the Blue Square South side who were formed in 2002 as a continuation of the former Wimbledon FC - one of those teams defeated by the Blues in that unforgettable cup run.

For the first time in seven seasons, Wanderers have been drawn away from home in the opening round of the 128-year-old competition and will now travel to Kingsmeadow (in Kingston-upon-Thames) on the weekend of Saturday 8th November.

However, the glamour of this tie could persuade the television companies to show the game live, which could see the match moved to another time over that weekend.

The Dons clinched their place in the first round with a 1-0 win at Maidstone United on Saturday afternoon and have former Wanderers defender Stuart Cash on their coaching staff. Cash, who was part of Wycombe's 1991 FA Trophy-winning side, is currently assistant manager to former Hayes and Aldershot boss Terry Brown.

Stay tuned to wwfc.com for reaction from Peter Taylor.
