Wanderers' assistant manager Ian Culverhouse is set to join former Blues boss Paul Lambert at Colchester United.

Lambert was named as Colchester's new manager yesterday and swiftly offered his former Wycombe colleague the chance to work alongside him at the League One club.

Blues managing director Steve Hayes told wwfc.com: 'We didn't want to lose Ian but we felt it would be wrong to stand in his way. We have agreed a small compensation package with Colchester and we wish him well. He did an excellent job in his time at Wycombe and now we will have to find an equally good replacement.'

Culverhouse has been with the Blues for over three years. A former player with Tottenham Hotspur and Norwich City, he took over from Gary Smith as Wycombe's youth team coach in July, 2005.

He became head first team coach under Lambert in the summer of 2007 following the departures of Steve Brown and Keith Ryan. When Lambert resigned at the end of last season, Culverhouse stayed on as assistant to new boss Peter Taylor.
