MOUSINHO: 'THIS WILL COST ME DEARLY!'
By Alan Parry
The 'phone lines to Adams Park were buzzing this morning as the clamour began for tickets for Saturday's local derby between table-topping Blues and Brentford, k.o. 3.00 pm.
One of the first calls was from Wanderers' new midfielder, former Brentford star John Mousinho, who joked to wwfc.com: 'This game is going to cost me a fortune! Because it's my old club against my local club, I'm going to need a stack of tickets for family and friends. There's my mum and dad and three brothers who all want to go - and that's just for starters.'
Mousinho spent three years at Brentford before Peter Taylor swooped to make him his first summer signing. He told us: 'As everyone knows, Wycombe is the club I always wanted to play for. I grew up in Amersham and although my dad and I both supported Tottenham as well, we watched more games at Adams Park than White Hart Lane. Playing for Wanderers is a dream come true for me and I'm loving every minute.'
John went on: 'I never played against Wycombe in my three years at Brentford. The manager (Terry Butcher) dropped me for the game at Adams Park last season and I was injured for the return fixture at Griffin Park on Boxing Day.
'I remember that Wycombe won both games. The home match was live on Sky and Jermaine Easter scored the only goal from the penalty spot late on. The game at Brentford was a cracker with Wycombe coming from a goal down to win 3-1.'
You can read a full length interview with Mousinho in Saturday's edition of The Quarters, our acclaimed new matchday programme. John talks about his schooldays at Dr.Challoner's in Amersham, where he was a budding footballer and an avid Blues fan; his adventures as a college kid in America; his big break in English football and his excitement when he heard that Wycombe were trying to sign him.
