WOODY: "I MEANT IT!"

Craig Woodman has revealed to wwfc.com that he was over the moon to get the winner against Lincoln City at the weekend as it meant the Blues picked up their first win of the season at Adams Park:

"It went in, so I meant it!," 'Woody' said. "The main thing was that we won the game and we did that."

The goal was Craig's first as a Wanderers player and the fourth of his career and hopefully there will be plenty more to come as Peter Taylor's side continue to hit the net from all areas of the pitch.

Lewwis Spence notched up his first career goal on the opening day against Morecambe before goals from John Mousinho and Scott McGleish sealed the 2-0 win at Chester, and the number of different scorers is pleasing the 'gaffer' albeit the last one having a touch of luck.

Peter Taylor told wwfc.com: "Unfortunately he (Craig Woodman) is claiming it - I don't believe him one bit! I'm delighted it went in and I'm really pleased that we've now had four different goalscorers this season already."

The former Bristol City man played behind Lewwis Spence on the left for the Blues on Saturday and he thinks the understanding between the duo is improving ever minute.

He said: "It's going well; it's going to take time to gel but so far so good."

And despite the duo helping the Blues take seven points from a possible nine from the opening three games of the League Two campaign the left-back still thinks there is room for improvement.

The 25-year-old said: "It's been a good start and it will get better once we all properly gelled. The gaffer wants us to play more of a passing, moving game which isn't normally associated with this league. We're getting to grips with that and with time it'll only improve."

Wanderers have a chance to amend last season's defeat at Saltergate this weekend when they travel to play Chesterfield and the defender is in high spirits ahead of the clash.

Craig said: "Hopefully we can get another three points on Saturday, we'll take every game as it comes and we'll get to where we want to be."
