Wanderers have agreed to sign 19-year-old striker Simon Church on a one-month loan deal from Championship club Reading, wwfc.com can reveal.

The Welsh Under-21 international was born in High Wycombe and joined the Blues' Centre of Excellence as a youngster before being snapped up by the Royals at the age of 14, and the 6'0" forward will rejoin his hometown club on a loan deal beginning on Friday:

Manager Peter Taylor said: "He's a very hard-working player - I'm delighted that Reading have allowed him to come here and I appreciate the board letting me bring him in."

Church signed his first professional deal at the Madejski Stadium in July 2007 and spent time on loan at Crewe Alexandra and Yeovil Town last season, while he has also represented Wales at Under-21 level and scored against Bosnia & Herzegovina in a UEFA qualifier in April.

However, Taylor insists that his search for a target man to replace John Sutton will continue despite the arrival of Church, and with the transfer window slamming shut at midnight on September 1st, he's hoping to act quickly to bring in the right man:

"I'm still looking for a big centre forward and if we can get one then that'll be great. The transfer deadline's coming up but hopefully we'll be able to tie something up soon."

Meanwhile, the former England coach was keen to praise his strike duo of Scott McGleish and Chris Zebroski for their efforts in Saturday's 1-0 win over Lincoln, and believes that the club already have an exciting blend of attacking talent in their armoury:

"I'm really happy with Scotty," he said after the game. "He's getting in the right areas and it won't be long until he's getting more goals for us. He was a little bit unlucky with his chance that hit the bar but I'm delighted with him and I'm pleased that we've had four different goalscorers this season - but we could do with Scotty getting 26 like he did last year!

"If Chris Zebroski plays like that every week then I'll be really pleased. It can be a bit frustrating at times when he loses the ball but he's a real handful and he'll get goals for us. With him and Scotty we've got two really hard-working strikers and now we've got Simon coming in to add a bit more competition."

Coming soon: We catch up with the new arrival at Adams Park and bring you further reaction from Saturday's 1-0 win over Lincoln City.
