Wanderers midfielder and lifelong supporter John Mousinho grabbed his first goal for the club with an exquisite lob in Saturday's 2-0 win over Chester City - much to the delight of his father Gordon who was listening to the game more than 4,000 miles away.
While the former Dr Challoner's Grammar School student was starring in the centre of the pitch in just his third competitive appearance for the club, his dad was listening to the
Wanderers World commentary on holiday in the Caribbean island of Aruba, and emailed the media team moments after his son's goal.
Mr Mousinho said that whilst his wife was windsurfing and John's two younger brothers were sailing in "brilliant blue water" and temperatures above 85 degrees, he was happy to be tuning in to hear how the 22-year-old had fired the Blues into the lead.
Gordon added that he'll be following the commentary again next week before travelling to Chesterfield for the match on August 30th, and is looking forward to the "big one" against John's former club Brentford on September 13th.
And
wwfc.com caught up with the goalscorer after the game to hear how it felt to open his account for the club:
"I was so pleased to see it hit the net," he said. "It was a perfect ball and the keeper made my mind up for me; I didn't know if I was offside or not so I just finished it and was relieved when it went in."
A number of John's friends are season ticket holders at Adams Park and were likely to be amongst the travelling support in the Deva Stadium, but although John was denied the chance to share his joy with his mates in the crowd, he was pleased to hear that his dad was listening to
Wanderers World:
"I was going to celebrate with the fans but I got mobbed by Lewwis Spence on the way!" he laughed. "My old man usually comes to all my matches at home and away and I'm glad he was listening online today."
John's lifelong affiliation with the club has provided plenty of ammunition for teasing from his team-mates since joining in the summer, and one particular interview on World was interrupted by one mischievous member of the squad singing "He's got blue blood!" in the background, but his professional attitude certainly caught the eye of manager Peter Taylor after Saturday's win:
"I thought John was the best player for us today," he said. "He couldn't have done any better; he showed great energy and I'm very pleased with him because he won lots of tackles and headers and covered a lot of ground, so I thought he did really well."
Join Mr Mousinho in the Wanderers World audience next weekend as the Blues take on Lincoln City at Adams Park. BBC Breakfast presenter and Wycombe fan Bill Turnbull will be on the gantry with Ross Jeavons and the club's new state-of-the-art commentary equipment, so log in from 2.55pm to hear how Peter Taylor's side get on.
