CHESTER HERE WE COME

Wanderers boss Peter Taylor feels he can take positives into the game with Chester City on Saturday after a much-improved second half performance in the defeat to Birmingham City.

And despite going down 4-0 to the Championship side and going out of the Carling Cup at the 1st round stage, the 55-year-old is upbeat ahead of the trip to Deva Stadium at the weekend.

He said: "I thought in the second half we played a lot better. We started getting the ball down forward and wide and we could have got a goal.

"They are a lot better than that and we've got to pick ourselves up and go again for the league matches."

Although the second 45 was more pleasing on the eye for the Blues boss he did admit he was disappointed with other aspects of the performance, including the defending for the first goal.

The former England boss said: "You can't give a side better than you on paper an early goal as it gives them confidence. There weren't too many tackles from us and we showed them too much respect. We should have made it more difficult for them."

The 'gaffer' also told press after the game that he thinks the trip to the Chester at the weekend may come to quickly for two or three of the Blues' first team stars, but he is really hopeful over one other influential member of the squad.

He said: "I don't think Hunt (Lewis) or McCracken (David) will be fit for the weekend but hopefully Willo (Mike) has got a good chance.

"Gary Holt has got a little bit of a chance but I would say doubtful. "
