TAYLOR EYEING MAJOR SCALP

Peter Taylor has revealed to wwfc.com that his Blues side will relish the opportunity to try and knock Championship side Birmingham out of the Carling Cup on Wednesday evening.

He said: "It's a game we want to win and we'll try and have a very good football match. We'll be looking forward to it.

"They (Birmingham) had a good result on Saturday when they beat Sheffield United, Kevin Phillips came off the bench and showed everyone what a good striker everyone knows he is."

Despite the two league difference between the sides the Blues faithful will be hoping for another extended cup run which saw them reach the semi-final of the competition back in 2006/07 season.

Only Premiership giants Chelsea stopped the Blues reaching the final that year and let's hope another Blues don't stop the Wanderers this time around:

"It's a game that we can go out and enjoy, we could get a result, get a draw and take them to penalties - who knows.

"It's lovely it's on Sky, good for the supporters also as they'll be watching players that played in Premiership last season. It should be a good game."
