Blues captain David McCracken told Wanderers World this week that he's eager to return to League Two action on Saturday as Peter Taylor's side begin the new campaign with the visit of Morecambe to Adams Park.

This time one year ago, 'Cracks' was on the verge of making his debut for the club after signing from Dundee United that summer, and after an impressive first season in the light and dark blue quarters he says he'll be glad to return to competitive football after taking part in seven pre-season friendlies:

"We're all looking forward to the new season," he said. "It's been a fairly decent pre-season and it's come around quite quickly but it's always good to get started again."

It's been a summer of change in South Bucks after the departures of manager Paul Lambert and first-team regulars Russell Martin, Sergio Torres and Stefan Oakes, but the tall Scotsman believes that Peter Taylor and his new recruits could have what it takes to bring success to the club:

"A few players left in the summer and that gives other people a chance to step in and show their worth. The new lads have done well; it's always going to take time for them to gel and adjust into the new team but they've been good in training and in the matches.

"You can see the new manager's got a vast knowledge and experience of the game and I think that will bode well for the new season. He's got a presence about the place and he's shown us how he wants us to play so I'm sure that'll be good for us," he added.

The 26-year-old was forced to watch most of the final games of last season from the substitutes' bench due to the fine form of Mike Williamson and Leon Johnson during his absence through injury, and admits that his place in the centre-back spot is by no means guaranteed:

"It's all about being able to adjust," he told us. "The manager's gone through a number of different set-ups and we're well equipped in that area; we did well defensively last season and it's up to him to choose the best team."

If you can't make it to Saturday's game, tune in to the Wanderers World commentary with Bill Turnbull and Ross Jeavons from 2.55pm via the MatchLive service.
