Wanderers manager Peter Taylor told wwfc.com on Friday night that he was pleased with his side's attacking options in the 2-1 friendly win at Stevenage Borough after seeing Chris Zebroski and Scott McGleish complete the turnaround at Broadhall Way.
The Blues boss stated his intention to bolster the striking department this season when he joined the club in the summer and former Torquay man Chris Zebroski proved that he can be the man to relieve some of the pressure on last year's top scorer Scott McGleish with a smart finish to level the scores:
"I was really pleased to get the goal and he had to work for it to beat the keeper and slide it in so I'm very happy," he said. "Stevenage were a very good team and when they went a goal up we knew we had to dig in, and I think we did that."
"You need your strikers to have confidence and hopefully that goal will help Chris. I'm not worried about Scott McGleish because I know he'll score goals but it's great for Chris to get off the mark."
The ease with which Borough striker Anthony Thomas was able to stroll through to open the scoring on seven minutes was of some concern to the former England coach but he believes that his side will be able to learn from mistakes made in pre-season before the league campaign begins in two weeks:
"It was a really sloppy goal and we could have done better defending some of the set pieces but at least if these things happen in pre-season we can work on them so they don't happen in the league.
"There were a lot of plus points from the games and a few negatives so hopefully we'll improve on that against Chelmsford on Saturday."
Tune into wwfc.com on Saturday for team news, updates and reaction from the Blues' next friendly in Essex.
