wwfc.com can reveal that Sergio Torres has finalised his move to Peterborough United following Darren Ferguson's side returning from their pre-season training camp in Marbella.
A combined fee of £200k has been agreed for the sale of Sergio and Russ Martin, with the price reflecting each player's valuation at £100k.
Wanderers boss Peter Taylor said: "We've got to be positive from our means. Sergio's been terrific for the football club but he did want to go to Peterborough and play at a higher division.
"At least it's happening now rather than at the end of pre-season as I'll hopefully be able to get someone in so they can gel and have time to practise with his new team-mates before the new season."
Torres signed a new deal in March and Steve Hayes, the club's Managing Director, felt that by extending the midfielder's stay with the club the Blues would be more likely to obtain a transfer fee.
Mr. Hayes said: "We knew of interest in him and we felt that by securing him on a contract we would get some money for him. When a player comes to us and says he wants to leave we can't stand in his way. "
The club's MD was also quick to reassure fans that Blues boss Peter Taylor will have the opportunity to replace Sergio by stating: "He will get some of the money to strengthen."
Keep checking wwfc.com throughout the day as we will bring you Sergio's exclusive farewell interview on Wanderers World, a personal message to all the Blues fans, an in-depth feature on the Argentinean as well as some classic Torres photographs.
