After a frustrating last campaign with the club, Wanderers winger Derek Duncan has exclusively revealed to wwfc.com that he feels he has a new lease of life under the new regime.

He said: "We've got a really good squad with genuine competition in all positions.

"I'm really excited for the new season and I just can't wait to get started now."

wwfc.com caught up with 'Del' on the first day of pre-season training on Tuesday, but due to an injury towards the back end of last season the ex-Leyton Orient man worked alone as he was put through his paces by Physio Shay Connolly in a bid to return to full fitness.

He said: "I'll be working with Shay for the rest of this week but then I should be training with everyone by Monday. I'm only a couple of days behind the other lads and hopefully I will be able to play some sort of part in the opening pre-season game at Flackwell Heath."

The 21-year-old didn't get many chances to impress last season under the previous gaffer Paul Lambert, but following a meeting with new boss Peter Taylor the left-midfielder feels that all the starting places are up for grabs as the start of the season draws ever nearer:

"The new gaffer seems like a really fair guy and he has told me that the slate is clean and everyone has got the chance to impress him."
