BLUES SWOOP FOR EAGLES STAR

By Ross Jeavons

The Wanderers have completed their first signing of the summer, in the form of highly rated Crystal Palace midfielder Lewwis Spence.

The 20-year-old winger turned down a new contract at the Championship club to sign a two-year deal with the Blues, after developing through the acclaimed youth system at Selhurst Park.

He made his professional debut for the Eagles back in 2006, putting on a memorable display against Notts County in the Carling Cup.

Lewwis, who had been at the London club from the age of 13, made his Football League debut in February 2007 against Leeds United.

He becomes Peter Taylor's first signing as Wycombe manager, and the ex-Palace boss feels that he will be a great addition to the squad.

"He is a very good young professional and very serious about his work, he's a powerful forward running midfield player with a very good left foot. Lewwis has a great hunger for the game and that's what I'm looking for. I want players to come in, to be hungry and prove a point. He fits the bill," he said.

Wanderers fans can be assured that there is plenty more excitement to come throughout the week, as the ex-England gaffer has hinted at further movement in the transfer market.

"There will be others on the way hopefully, we need to strengthen the squad. I know we need to get a striker and some wide players, I've looked at what we think we will need on the experience of last season - we need to get some goals."
