Wanderers have finalised the arrangements for their 2008/09 pre-season campaign and Peter Taylor's side will face Southend United at Adams Park on Saturday 2nd August, wwfc.com can exclusively reveal.
The League One side arrive in South Bucks a week before the start of the league campaign and the Blues boss is looking forward to facing his former club:
"It'll be a good pre-season game," he said. "They're a really good footballing team, the manager's done an outstanding job for many years now and they'll come here and play football so it should be a good game for people to watch."
Meanwhile, the Wanderers have added fixtures away to Maidenhead United and Chelmsford City to take the total of pre-season matches to seven, six of which are against non-league opposition, but Taylor says he won't put too much strain on his players during the pre-season campaign:
"My programme is to give players 45 minutes each for the first few games so that we don't over-work them and it means they can still train every day."
The full list of friendlies is as follows:
Friday 11th July - Flackwell Heath (away), 7.30pm.
Tuesday 15th July - Maidenhead United (away), 7.45pm
Saturday 19th July - Forest Green (away), 3pm
Friday 25th July - Stevenage Borough (away), 7pm
Saturday 26th July - Chelmsford City (away), 3pm
Tuesday 29th July - Oxford United (away), 7.45pm
Saturday 2nd August - Southend United (home), 3pm
Supporters are advised to take note of the change to the advertised kick-off for the friendly at Stevenage Borough, which has been changed from 7.45pm to 7pm.
The Blues faced both Maidenhead and Oxford in pre-season friendlies last season, while Wanderers fans may remember a 4-0 win over Chelmsford City in the first round of the FA Cup in 1994.
