Wycombe stars drew a big crowd at The Red Lion Knotty Green on Tuesday, for the official opening of the pub's new Wanderers Sports Bar for fans living in and around Beaconsfield.

Club captain, David McCracken, was joined by team-mates Russ Martin, John Sutton and Sergio Torres to cut a ribbon in the club's colours. The team, who this week celebrated securing a League Two play-off spot, also signed a Wanderers shirt made specially for the opening.

David said: "It was a great evening, the pub is really nice and it's good to have our club represented around the county. We were well treated and hopefully a few of the locals will be sitting down with a pint and watching us at Wembley in a few weeks time!"

The Red Lion's separate sports bar was completed recently, along with a major refit for the entire pub. The idea for a Wanderers-themed bar for Beaconsfield came from contributors on a Wanderers fans forum.

Landlady, Tina Massie said: "We were delighted when the club suggested bringing along some players for an official Grand Opening and it was wonderful to see such a big turnout. Now we're hoping for another big bash when the Wanderers win promotion!"
