BLUES SIGN STRIKER ON LOAN

Wanderers have boosted their bid for promotion by snapping up former Premier League striker Delroy Facey on loan 'till the end of the season.

Facey will go straight into the Blues squad for the next game at home to promotion rivals Peterborough United and will remain at Adams Park for the vital run-in against M.K.Dons(A), Grimsby(A), Chester(H), Notts County(A) and Bradford(H), and the emergency loan can be extended to include the promotion play-offs.

Manager Paul Lambert told wwfc.com today: 'Delroy is just the type of player we've been looking for. He's big, strong and quick and he'll give us a real alternative up front. We need someone with the strength to hold the ball up and that's one of his big assets.

'Everyone knows that we tried to get Paul Furlong, but he's leading scorer for Luton this season and they weren't prepared to let him go. Delroy is a younger version of Furlong and he was always in our thoughts.'

Facey joins on loan from League One Gillingham and Wycombe will be the eleventh club of his career, including loans. He started his career at home town Huddersfield and soon attracted attention from bigger clubs.

A move to Premier League Bolton projected Delroy into the big time at the age of 21 and he made ten appearances at the top level for Sam Allardyce's team, scoring one goal in a 4-2 win against Birmingham.

The 6'00" striker then had successful loan spells with Bradford and Burnley before a big money move to West Bromwich Albion. He also played for Hull City, Oldham Athletic and Tranmere Rovers before joining Rotherham United where he scored eleven goals in League One last season.

Delroy - who'll be 28 next month - has been a regular for Gillingham this season following his move to Priestfield Stadium last summer.
