LEON - "I HAVE A WINNING ATTITUDE"
By Ben Campbell
New £50,000 signing Leon Knight has moved to clear any rumours he has an attitude problem by stating it can be mistaken for a winning mentality.
He said: "People have got this stigma obout me that I go and kick down doors, I'm only 5ft 6", I'm not kicking down no doors!
"When I was younger I admit I did have a bit of an attitude, but it wasn't a bad attitude, just a winning attitude."
Knight added: "People didn't understand that I didn't like losing and when I was young I used to get in a strop when I lost."
Despite the short time the ex-MK Dons man has been at the club, Paul Lambert has already seen signs he brought a quality footballer into the club.
He said: "Leon came on for the last 15 minutes on Tuesday night and people can see he is going to be a real asset. He'll be terrific for us.
"I'm always one for giving people a chance to prove themselves. If Leon's goals can contribute to us getting out of this league, no-one will worry about what he was like."
The boss added: "So far I've had no problems with Leon and I don't think there will be any. He's very been pleasant since he joined."
Knight, who will wear the no.9 jersey for the Blues started his career at Chelsea, but after falling behind the likes of Gianfranco Zola he went on loan to the lower leagues before joining Brighton on a permanent deal in the summer of 2003.
Lambert believes Leon will bring something different to the side and said: "What he lacks in height he makes up for in other attributes, he knows where the goal is and has scored goals in higher leagues which is good for us if we go up.
"I just want him to score goals like he has for previous clubs. If we get that it'll be great."
Leon could make his home debut tomorrow against Rochdale, to buy tickets click here.
