EASTER: "I'M SORRY"
By Alan Parry
Jermaine Easter has issued an apology to Blues fans for the "confusion" surrounding his recent absence from the team.
Last season's leading scorer told wwfc.com: "I feel that I owe Wycombe supporters an explanation. They have been great to me during my time here and I want to assure them that I am not a 'bad egg' and that I do care about the club. I am sorry that this whole business has got out of hand."
Wales international Easter has been left out of the squad for Wanderers' recent games, but he insisted: "When the manager is ready to play me again I will be there and ready to fight for the team."
"I never refused to play at Bradford and I certainly didn't say that I would never play for the club again."
"What happened was that I felt I wasn't playing up to my usual standard because of my disappointment at not being allowed to speak to Plymouth when they made a bid for me."
"I expressed my feelings to the manager and that was that, nothing more. I owe Wycombe a lot and I would never disrespect the club."
"I'm sure that there will be a few fans who won't care about my apology and will think that the damage has already been done and I totally understand that, but I hope that the majority of people will continue to support me as they have done in my time here."
Easter will join up with the Wales squad for their European Championship qualifiers against Cyprus and San Marino and therefore won't be available for Blues' games against Swansea in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and Peterborough in League Two.
Said manager Paul Lambert: "I don't want anything to overshadow our win against Notts County and I am just concentrating on the next game against Swansea."
"I had a chat with Jermaine before our last game and I will talk to him again when he returns from international duty with Wales. As I said before, he has to earn the right to get back into the team. "
