By Jamie Young
Welcome everyone to another summer edition of the Jamie Young Show. Naturally I will be your host coming to you from Brisbane, Australia. I'm now a week or two into my trip to the homeland so there are plenty of things to get stuck into.
Even though I'm in Australia I've been keeping a firm eye on the football over in Europe as all of the competitions draw to a close. Unfortunately I missed the League Two play-off final as I was flying at the time, but luckily I could catch the League One and Championship finals respectively on T.V.
I thought it was great how they televised those games out here and it shows how far the public have come in terms of accepting soccer (football) in this country.
The only thing that sucked was that I had to wake up at 3 am to watch the games! It's funny, half those games I couldn't be bothered to watch when I was in the UK - but here I was waking up in the early hours of the morning when I should've been sleeping!
The Champions League was a competition that I was especially interested in. I'm not a Manchester United fan but I thought it was cool to have another English Club in the final and with them playing Barcelona I knew it was sure to be a brilliant game. I do think the better team won in the end with Barcelona putting in a sublime performance to quash the mighty Red Devils.
Youngy was blown away by the Champions of Europe
I thought United might put up more of a fight but they looked a bit shocked from the goal they conceded early on.
Moving onto news from the Southern Hemisphere and during the past week I've been spending lots of time with my family. Most of my mum's side live really close together so more or less everyday we've come together and had dinner, which has been wonderful because now I don't have to cook!
I appreciate things like this a lot more because I live so far away. It makes it all the more special. The last few days many of my friends have been complaining of the cold weather here and how 15 degrees is supposedly freezing…Trust me no sympathy has been given, pathetic!
Over in France I'm sure all of you are aware that the French Open was being played. Over the last few years we have seen Rafael Nadal win the championship over and over but this year it was different with Roger Federer taking the title. I'm a big Nadal fan.
I think his grit, determination and most notably his power and strength are a breed apart on a tennis court but I have to say Roger Federer has achieved one of the greatest feats in tennis.
Youngy is sure Roger Federer will be remembered for years to come
Even though he's not number one right now, I'm sure over the course of time he will be regarded as one of the best ever. With this result in mind, I think we are going to see a very exciting Wimbledon.
This weekend I'm going up to visit my cousins at the Sunshine Coast. I'm sure you can gather that's it's a pretty hot place but one of the best things I like about it are the beaches. I'll try and get some photos up for you in my next edition, they are some of my favorite locations in the world.
Given that I haven't been there for a number of years I'm really excited at seeing a proper beach for once.... Bournemouth?! Get real!
Well that does us for another Jamie Young Show, once again I hope everyone in sunny England is enjoying themselves and hopefully next week I'll have some interesting pictures of Australia.
Until then, keep it real!
Youngy
